How To Make Compost Tea
Compost Tea is compost that has been steeped in water. You can use
it to soak the roots of plants or as a foliar spray. Compost Tea is
not only for use as a fertilizer, but it also provides additional
nutrients for your soil. Feed the soil and you are in turn,
feeding you plants. The soil is full of microorganisms that live,
reproduce and die and in the process add their nutritional value to the soil. Brewing compost tea is a great way to increase their population and in turn help your plants grow healthy and better able to fend
off droughts and diseases.
Step 1: Get a bucket of water. Old fish tanks and plastic storage containers are also great for making compost tea.
Step 2: Get a shovel full of compost. Do not use unfinished compost or manure.
Step 3: Add the compost directly into the bucket of water. If you play on using a sprayer, you can also use an old sock or cheese cloth to prevents clogs.
Step 4: Let it sit for a day or two and stir it a couple of times each day and you're done. Congratulations, you've just brewed your first batch of compost tea.
